Christian Science Reading Rooms
What is a Christian Science Reading Room?
A Reading Room is open to the general public and is a great place to learn about metaphysics and spiritual healing. It has books and resource materials for sale or to borrow, and offers a quiet place for study and prayer. Each Reading Room is maintained by a local Christian Science church for the benefit of the community.
You can get a copy of the Bible and/or Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy at any Reading Room. Also available are Bible dictionaries, concordances, and many other reference works, including other writings by Mrs. Eddy, and biographies by a number of authors that tell her life story. Cassette tapes and CDs are also available.
The Christian Science Publishing Society produces a variety of publications that are all available through the Reading Room. You'll find The Christian Science Monitor, an international daily newspaper (available on the web), as well as a weekly hard copy publication, consistently ranked by professional journalists as one of the top ten newspapers in the world. It was founded with the mission "to injure no man, but to bless all mankind."
The Christian Science Sentinel is a weekly magazine and the Christian Science Journal is published monthly. Both contain articles on how Christian Science can be applied to everyday situations, and include verified testimonies of healing by prayer alone.
The Herald of Christian Science is published in many different languages and is tailored to the countries where those languages are spoken.
The Christian Science Quarterly contains the citations for the Weekly Bible Lessons which are studied during the week and heard at Sunday services throughout the world.
